The laboratory is fully accreditied by NATA and RCPA.

Accreditation is required for all laboratories performing diagnostic tests reimbursed under Medicare.This is only granted after regular evaluation by NATA assessment teams.

We also adhere to the guidelines published by the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC).

In addition to routine procedures, the department is equiped to perform supplementary diagnostic immunohistochemical stains.

Intraoperative Frozen Section Diagnosis

With portable equipment we can attend any private hospital, day-only surgeries, and consulting surgeries with operating theatre facilities to perform frozen section diagnosis.

Non Gynaecological Cytology

Cytological examination of smears provides a rapid and easy method of diagnosis.

It can be performed on a range of specimen types, including sputum and urine.

Aspirated material from various solid tissues, including thyroid,  breast and lymph nodes can also be examined.

Continuing Education provided to Doctors

We are available to teach doctors interested in learning simple FNAB techniques, or who simply wish to update their knowledge of Cervical Pap smear collections.

 

Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy or FNAB is a minimally invasive, simple technique used to assess the nature of many lumps and masses.

It is routinely performed by pathologists and results are usually available the same day.

If a patient has a palpable lump, such as a thyroid nodule, breast lump or enlarged lymph nodes, an appointment can be made for them to attend any of our collection centres to have a biopsy.

If your patient has a non-palpable lump which requires U/S or CT guided biopsy, we can attend when a radiologist performs the test to ensure adequate material is obtained.
